Timing Belts
Timing belts synchronize the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft in engines to maintain valve timing. The belts are made from reinforced rubber and feature a series of “teeth” that rotate the shaft. Timing belts provide a more lightweight and economical alternative to timing chains and are more effective at minimizing noise and vibration. The belts are, however, less durable than a metal timing chain.
While most commonly associated with automotive applications, timing belts are used in a variety of equipment […]
Bulk Material Testing
Bulk material handling systems help keep products moving. Bulk material testing is a process that allows manufacturers to see how bulk material handling systems will work in their facility before actually installing them. Engineers from companies like Nol-Tec recreate the conditions of a manufacturer’s plant and perform application and site-specific tests.
Retrofitting a manufacturing facility is a sizable undertaking and a significant investment. Manufacturers want to be confident that a bulk material handling system will work before they start the process […]

Innovations in Plastics Machining
Plastic parts are usually made in a process called injection molding — molten plastic is injected into a mold and left to harden into the desired shape. Though it has some drawbacks, injection molding is popular for plastic parts because plastics are notoriously difficult to machine.
