Tube furnaces are electric heating devices used in laboratory settings. They are useful in conducting syntheses and purifications of inorganic compounds, and can be to produce certain forms of organic synthesis. Tube furnace design usually consists of cylindrical cavities or chambers surrounded by heating coils. More advanced designs include two or more heating zones for transport experiments. Tube furnaces can achieve and maintain very high temperatures over extended working periods.
