Thermal Oxidizers

A thermal oxidizer is an air pollution control unit that neutralizes Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) through thermal combustion. Thermal oxidizers enable industrial companies that work with volatile compounds and hazardous chemicals to meet environmental compliance requirements regarding air pollution. There are typically two types of thermal oxidizers, regenerative or recuperative. Regenerative units usually use catalytic materials within the gas stream to aid in the conversion of hazardous gasses into environmentally friendly gasses. Recuperative units convert the dangerous gasses primarily through high temperatures. The thermal oxidizer decomposes hazardous gases from industrial airstreams into gases that are chemically safe for release into the environment. Most pollutants that are produced as byproducts of chemical industries are hydrocarbon based. Exposure to high temperatures for a brief period of time redistributes the hydrocarbon molecule
