Solvent Recovery

The solvent recovery process routes air that may include solvent particles through adsorption vessels that house activated carbon. The charcoal adsorbs the solvent vapors until a saturation level is reached. Steam or hot nitrogen is used to strip the solvent from the carbon. The steam is then condensed in either an air or water cooler condenser. Depending on the solvent type, the solvents are then separated out using distillation or other refinement methods. Solvent recovery extends the use of solvent purchases by allowing them to be recycled, thus increasing the cost-effectiveness of many manufacturing processes.
