A single phase transformer is one of several types of static electrical devices (transformers) that transfer energy via inductive coupling between its winding circuits. Basically, single phase transformers consist of two coils of electrical wire—the primary winding and the secondary winding—wrapped together around a closed core circuit made of magnetic iron. The windings are electrically isolated from each other, but are magnetically linked through the core, thus allowing electrical power to transfer from one coil to the other.
