Membrane Switches

Time to Read: 0m 46s

A Membrane Switch is an electrical switch used to turn a circuit on and off. Membrane switches are themselves printed circuit boards. They are different in operation and construction from mechanical switches, which are usually made of copper and/or plastic parts. The ink used in printing on membrane switches is usually copper, silver, or graphite enfused, making it conductive.   Membrane switches are commonly used on microwave oven and air conditioner control panels, TV remote controls, etc. Tactile feedback of keys can be provided by embossing the top printed layer, by embedding metal or polyester snap domes, or by forming the graphic layer into dome shapes. Membranes switches offer many benefits, such as easy cleaning, low profile, and the ability to be sealed against moisture, dust, and other contaminants. Membrane Switch links
