Industrial Coating

Time to Read: 1m 13s

An industrial coating is a coating that is applied for its protective properties, rather than for aesthetic reasons (though industrial coatings can provide both). These coatings are generally applied to individual parts or components of industrial equipment, and may serve a variety of purposes.

Industrial Coating Applications

Industrial coatings can be used to reduce or prevent corrosion caused by water exposure, chemicals, acids, etc.; to reduce part wear caused by everyday operation; to add lubricity or otherwise enhance performance; or to restore damaged or worn parts to their original dimensions.

Industrial Coating Materials

Numerous materials can be used to create protective industrial coatings. Polymers such as polyurethane, epoxy, urethane, and fluoropolymer are common. More specialized coatings may utilize ceramics, carbides (tungsten carbide, chrome carbide, etc.), or metals such as aluminum, copper, titanium, or zinc, among many others.
