Level Sensor

As the name suggests, a level sensor is designed to detect the level of liquids, other fluids, or fluidized solids that exhibit an upper free surface, such as slurries, granular materials, and powders. The measured substance is generally inside a container of some sort, though it can also be in its natural form (e.g. a lake).

A level sensor may take measurements continuously or at point values. Continuous level sensors measure the substance’s level of within specified ranges and can be used to determine the exact amount of substance. Point-level sensors are simpler, and only indicate whether the material is above or below the sensor point.
